Casco Bay

When I arrived in Portland Maine I had a few hours before my cousin got off work. I decided to take the Casco Bay Lines Mailboat Run around Casco Bay.
It is a really nice trip. It cost $15.50 and lasted a little over three hours.
You can get off at any of the islands it stops at but I decided to just stay on for the entire trip. I got off briefly on Chebeague Island because there was a 20 minute layover while they loaded and unloaded freight.image
What makes it really interesting is that this is the way that people living on these islands get their deliveries. I saw beds, kitchen cabinets, insulation etc. all being delivered by the boat and then the residents meet the ferry at the dock to pick up their items. I also saw a sign on the boat for a restaurant in Portland where people on the islands could call in an order in the morning and the restaurant would send it out on the afternoon ferry.
