Hard to believe we passed this lamp up. Spotted it while out thrift shopping today
Plants were marked down to 10¢ a 6 pack. This is 60¢ of marigolds, dianthus and snap dragons.
So Spin Pins have been on the market for awhile now. They are corkscrew/coil shaped metal hair pins that allow you to make hair buns/other updo hairstyles and are invisible when in your hair. I have looked at them several times and each time I didn’t buy them because they were around $6.00 for two pins. I just couldn’t bring myself to spend that much on something I wasn’t sure would work when I have a small makeup bag full of hair elastics that do work. Hair Elastics are good, but they put a kink in my hair when I use them and also if you put your hair up repeatedly in the same way using an elastic in the same spot over and over you can cause damage and hair breakage in that spot
I have been reading great things about them online. Most people seem to love them. Especially those with longer hair. Today I stopped in the Dollar Tree dollar store to get some onion powder (Dollar Stores can be a great place to buy herbs and spices). I was heading up towards the front when my eye caught a package of what looked like Spin Pins. I thought they were knock offs because I couldn’t see the whole package at first. When I looked closer they were indeed the official Goody brand Spin Pins in the mini size. (Amazon has them for $4.47 for the minis)
My hair is longer so I wasn’t sure about the mini’s but they came 3 to a package and I thought that I could give them a try and if I liked them eventually I would buy the larger pins. I have been playing with them since I got home and they really are great. My hair is long but straight and not very thick. The spin pin minis hold all of my hair in a bun if I use all 3. I think if I had the longer pins that I could get away with only using one or two, but these three are great and do the job so I don’t even need to get the big ones now.
I’ve been shaking my head around and my bun hasn’t budged. I got the dark ones. They come in light and dark. My hair is sort of in the middle but it doesn’t matter as once these are in you don’t see them.
I was really afraid that they would tangle in my hair and be impossible to get out. I was having flashbacks to the third grade picture day when I got a black plastic comb that were handed out to us stuck in my hair. I have taken the spin pins out and put them back in several times and they have never tangled or been a problem. They go in super easy and come out just as easy, no pulling, snagging etc. You really do just spin them in and out of your hair, it’s kind of cool.
I’m sure the bigger ones are more secure for longer hair, and I could probably do more/different hairstyles with the big ones, but these minis are perfect for me for right now and I’m super happy to have gotten them for a dollar.
If you have been on the fence about Spin Pins or maybe you love them already and want more, check your local Dollar Tree. It is a regular, everything is a dollar store, the weird thing is that I went back to where the hair things were to see if they had more and the spin pins weren’t there anywhere, they were on one clip strip towards the front near where the makeup was. They were actually half hidden they just happened to catch my eye as I was walking by.
I just looked it up online and you can buy them online from the Dollar Tree (but you have to buy a case online).
So, my birthday is later on this month. I honestly don’t care about birthday parties, gifts etc.
My husband and I spend the day doing something together, some Forever stamps are purchased and that equals a happy birthday for me.
This year we both want to see The Hobbit. Movie tickets aren’t so cheap anymore so I looked online to try and find some coupons or discount tickets to our local movie theater.
On Ebay I found a sheet of coupons good at our local movie theater. One coupon is for a free ticket on your birthday with no exclusions. 3D is also included so we can see the Hobbit in 3D if we choose to. There are two $2.00 off a regular adult movie ticket and a $2.00 off popcorn coupon. This is perfect and we can use all three of those coupons if we buy our tickets separately which is no big deal.
A little planning ahead and spending a few minutes looking for coupons or discount codes can often net you some savings on something you planned on doing anyways.
I get to spend a great day with my favorite person, doing something we are both looking forward to and not spending a fortune to do it.
There are several sites online that have lists of free birthday offers from stores, restaurants and attractions just do a search for Free Birthday. I looked through them but nothing else appealed to me.
After looking over the upcoming black Friday week deals on Amazon my husband and I made a list of some of the things we were interested in.
Since there are a handful of movies over the next week that we would like to pick up, it got me to thinking about shipping. It’s not always such a great price when you have to factor in shipping costs. Amazon has Amazon prime where for $79 a year you get free 2 day shipping and a bunch of other perks.
I had looked into it before and we wouldn’t have used it enough to justify spending $79. I thought I would take a look at it again and see if it made sense now seeing as how we would be making several purchases this week under $25.00 and thus not eligible for free super saver shipping. All those shipping charges were going to add up.
Turns out that Amazon Prime has a free 30 day trial! YAY!! I signed up for it and we get free shipping until December 19th which is plenty long enough.
Be sure though and go into your account and turn off auto renewal. I did this right after I signed up so I wouldn’t forget. I also marked it down on my calender to cancel the subscription a few days before it would end just to make sure we wouldn’t get billed.
So over this week when they each go on Black Friday week sale we hope to pick up:
The Prisoner the complete series Blu-Ray $22.99
Rumpole of the Bailey the complete series (a gift) $24.49
The Big Bang Theory- seasons 1-5 $7.99 each, season 5 is $8.99
